The book, momentarily examined the relationship of external and internal influences of pilot operating culture and helped to shape the forming of the casptone problem for this research effort. The technology in next generation aircraft, aircraft designed with an operating philosophy based off of modern human factors science, in some cases contradicts how the pilots who fly them are evaluated.
In summary, this research effort started by recognizing a problem, there is a gap between pilot operating culture and human factors science. The most surprising comments on surveys were that pilots in training thought the seminar was a waste of time!
